Schoenberg Quartet
(fondato nel 1976)

Nel 2001 il Quartetto Schoenberg ha festeggiato il suo 25° anniversario.
I musicisti del Quartetto (Janneke van der Meer e Wim de Jong, violini; Henk Guittart, viola; Viola de Hoog, violoncello) condividono un comune interesse verso i compositori della seconda scuola viennese - Arnold Schoenberg, Alban Berg, Anton Webern e Alexander Zemlinsky - e l'opera completa per archi di questi autori costituisce il cuore del loro repertorio.

Schoenberg Quartet Tuttavia i loro programmi spaziano dalla musica di Claude Debussy e Johannes Brahms fino ai compositori di oggi, con particolare attenzione alle prime tre decadi del XX secolo.

Oltre a concerti ed apparizioni radiotelevisive in Olanda, il Quartetto si è esibito nei principali Paesi Europei, oltre a Canada e Stati Uniti. L'esibizione alla televisione olandese delle otto opere per archi di Schoenberg è stata diffusa in tutto il mondo e il Quartetto è apparso anche nel film di Rhombus My War Years, sulla vita di Arnold Schoenberg.

Tra il 1983 e il 1991 il Quartetto ha lavorato spesso a Boston (USA), dove ha studiato con il violista oltre che famoso insegnante di quartetto Eugene Lehner, già membro del rinomato Kolisch Quartet che negli anni '20 e '30 ha lavorato a stretto contatto con Schoenberg, Webern, Berg e Bartók.

Gli Amici dell'Istituto Arnold Schoenberg di Los Angeles nel 1989 hanno dichiarato il Quartetto Socio Onorario a vita, un onore in precedenza riservato ad artisti del calibro di Pierre Boulez, Felix Galimir e Eugene Lehner.

Il Quartetto Schoenberg ha pubblicato 26 CD con lavori di Loius Andriessen, Brahms, Willem Breuker, Chausson, Dutilleux, Janacek, Otto Ketting, Pijper, Robin de Raaff, Reger, Roussel, Schulhoff, Shostakovich, Bart Visman, Jan van Vlijmen e Mathijs Vermeulen.
Per Chandos ha recentemente registrato su 9 CD l'opera completa per archi di Schoenberg, Webern, Berg e Zemlinsky, un evento unico nella storia dell'incisione discografica. Questi dischi hanno ricevuto grandi elogi nella stampa internazionale. Nel 2002 il Quartetto Schoenberg ha ricevuto una nomination al Grammy Award.

In 2001 the Schoenberg Quartet celebrated its twenty-fifth anniversary. The musicians of the Quartet (Janneke van der Meer and Wim de Jong, violins; Henk Guittart, viola; Viola de Hoog, cello) share a common interest in the composers of the Second Viennese School - Arnold Schoenberg, Alban Berg, Anton Webern and Alexander Zemlinsky - and the complete works for strings by these composers form the heart of their repertoire.
However, their programmes range from the music of Claude Debussy and Johannes Brahms to that of composers of the present day, highlighting the music of the first three decades of the twentieth century.

Besides concerts and broadcasts in The Netherlands, the Quartet has given performances in most European countries as well as in Canada and the United States. Its performances for Dutch television of Schoenberg's eight works for strings were broadcast worldwide and the Quartet appears on the Rhombus film My War Years about the life of Arnold Schoenberg.

Between 1983 and 1991 the Quartet worked frequently in Boston (U.S.A.), where it studied with the violist and famous quartet coach Eugene Lehner, formerly a member of the renowned Kolisch Quartet which in the 1920s and '30s worked closely with Schoenberg, Webern, Berg and BartÛk.
The Friends of the Arnold Schoenberg Institute in Los Angeles awarded the Schoenberg Quartet Honorary Life Membership in 1989, an honour previously accorded to artists such as Pierre Boulez, Felix Galimir and Eugene Lehner.

The Schoenberg Quartet has issued a total of 26 CDs with works by a.o. Louis Andriessen, Brahms, Willem Breuker, Chausson, Dutilleux, Jan·cek, Otto Ketting, Pijper, Robin de Raaff, Reger, Roussel, Schulhoff, Shostakovich, Bart Visman, Jan van Vlijmen and Mathijs Vermeulen.

Giovane formazione dalle raffinate sonorità e dalla grande sensibilità artistica, nasce con l'intento di perseguire un cammino di scoperta e di studio di un repertorio spesso sconosciuto e di raro ascolto, ma di preziosa qualità.
La ricchezza timbrica che nasce dall'accostamento di 3 strumenti come flauto, arpa e viola in grado di evocare una piccola orchestra, ha ispirato grandi compositori alla creazione di una letteratura non vasta, ma di sicuro interesse, iniziando ovviamente dalla Sonata di Claude Debussy. In repertorio anche brani di autori contemporanei come Honneger, Jolivet, Milhaud, Piston, Gubaidulina e altri, talvolta collaborando nella realizzazione di nuove opere.
Di contro, grande attenzione viene rivolta anche a musica del passato o comunque pensata originariamente per altri organici, eseguita in trascrizioni di Andrea Cipriani come le celebri "Variazioni Goldberg" o musiche del Settecento italiano come la Sonata dal "Pastor fido" di A. Vivaldi, la Sonata in si bemolle di F. Barsanti e la Sonata in fa op.2 nƒ1 di B. Marcello.

Andrea Dainese, Giancarlo di Vacri ed Elisabetta Ghebbioni provengono da esperienze musicali assai varie e hanno suonato nelle principali sale da concerto italiane: Torino, Roma, Milano (Sala del Conservatorio "G. Verdi"), Genova, Firenze, Venezia, Bologna. Hanno tenuto concerti nei principali paesi europei (Francia, Germania, Spagna, Scandinavia), negli Stati Uniti e nel 2005 hanno effettuato una lunga tournée in Australia.
Nel TRIO LEONARDO hanno trovato la possibilità di mettere a frutto quanto di più stimolante si era dato nelle rispettive carriere, riuscendo a fare confluire tutto ad un punto di intesa e di affiatamento realmente non comuni per questo tipo di formazione.

Trio Leonardo, young Ensemble with refined sonority and great artistic sensibility, has the purpose of discover and study an unknown, yet precious repertory.
The rich tone, which comes from the combination of 3 instruments such as flute, harp and viola, evocating a small orchestra, inspired great composers in creating an interesting literature, starting from Debussy's Sonata. Also in repertory pieces from contemporary composers, like Honneger, Jolivet, Milhaud, Piston, Gubaidulina and others, sometimes collaborating with them during the creation process.
On the other hand, the musicians show interest in past music or transcriptions from pieces originally thought for other ensembles. This is the case for example of the "Goldberg Variations" and italian music of the XVIII cen. like the Sonata from A. Vivaldi's "Pastor fido", F. Barsanti's Sonata in b, B. Marcello's Sonata op.2 n.1.

Andrea Dainese, Giancarlo di Vacri and Elisabetta Ghebbioni come from various musical experiences and they played in the most important italian concert hall: Turin, Rome, Milan (Conservatory G. Verdi), Genoa, Florence, Venice, Bologna.
They also performed in many european countries, like France, Germany, Spain, Scandinavia and USA and Australia (2005).
In Trio Leonardo they found the possibility of putting their experiences to good use, reaching the point of a really uncommon harmony and understanding.
